Army Flying Museum takes off

April 25, 2019

Following a five-month redevelopment and a £2.59m investment, the Army Flying Museum (AFM) in Hampshire re-opened April 2019. Within the project, AY-PE was appointed to design, produce and deliver two new immersive large-scale AV shows, as well as new ambient and set specific audio soundscapes, edited archive films and new oral history listening points.

The AFM is the only museum in the world dedicated to telling the history and evolution of British Army flying: from 1878 to the present day.

As a key part of the project the museum wanted visitors to re-engage with the collection – viewing it from the perspectives of courage, comradeship and innovation. Owing to our passion for people-focussed AV, we ran with these topics collaborating with museum personnel and exhibition designers to create shows, soundscapes and other AV full of excitement, inspiration and emotion.

A full AY-PE case study will follow soon.
